A few months ago I was diagnosed with ameloblastoma, which is a tumour of the jaw. My family and I were worried about the future and what impact it would have on my life. A close friend of ours that goes to our church recommended that we speak to Rose from Peter‘s Place, because the founder of the charity has been through something similar and would understand. Rose is such a friendly person and is willing to help in any way, shape or form, she is an understanding woman who understands what my family and I was going through and could relate to parts.
The charity has helped my family and I in a lot of ways and I am grateful for everything she has done and thankful that the close friend passed the information onto us. Before this I was planning to learn how to drive and they have granted me my dream and I will be starting to learn from July ending and am grateful and amazed about the opportunity given.
We would just like to say a massive thank you to Peters Place for your amazing gift to, not only Cam, but us as a family for our Merlin annual passes, and paradise wildlife park annual passes. We cannot tell you what these means to us as a family.
Cam is an absolute animal lover, and to be able to visit these places as many times as we want, free of charge over a year is amazing! We’ve already abused the Merlin passes enough lol. We’ve also visited 2 duffest aquariums, which before, we would’ve had to pay for, and are also looking forward to going on the London eye in the summer. It means the world to cam to be able to have day’s out and see animals.
To see him smile when he’s around them is worth everything, and if it wasn’t for peters place, we wouldn’t be seeing as many beautiful smiles as we are. Thank you all so much.
Peter’s Place is a great charity helping young adults with life limiting illnesses, like myself. I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer) when I was 17 and after a few months into chemotherapy I was looking for a bit of support from someone who knew what it was like.
After looking around I came across Peter’s Place. I didn’t really know what to expect but after I met with Rose and Susie from the charity I felt completely at ease. It was exactly what I was looking for!
Some people I could talk to who didn’t really know my situation but had some experience of their own which meant we could talk about common experiences and how I was feeling about everything. We met occasionally, when I was feeling up to it just to chat and talk about everything from cancer to how crazy our pets were! We’re still in contact now and I know whenever I need someone to talk to again then Peter’s Place will be there!
We are making a change; knowing you’re not alone can make all the difference.
